National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Mahatma Gandhi Centenary year 1969 and aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. The NSS Unit was started in our college in the year 2011. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community. It is a student–centered programme in which projects are implemented by the NSS volunteers in close collaboration with the clientele community and scope for the students’ interaction with the people.
While interacting with the community the students learn many things which they cannot learn from theory classes. The NSS scheme is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life . NSS volunteers are an asset to the society.
Students through the NSS activities are engaged in actual work not only within the college campus but also their services extend to schools and society. The aim of NSS is to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour. The various programmes conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society.
The overall objective of NSS is Personality Development through community service.

Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through Youth Red Cross programme. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities not only as workers and also as beneficiaries, but as partners in management. |

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instil charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation. |

The Red Ribbon foundation is an organization founded in 1993 whose main purpose is the education about prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, Acquired Deficiency Syndrome Related Complex, ARC and AIDS.

A successful Blood Donation Camp was held at VVCOE Campus, organized by NSS, YRC, and RRC in collaboration with Thoothukudi Medical College and Muthaloor Government Primary Health Centre. National Welfare Special Camp organised by NSS cell - V V College of Engineering in Ittamozhi-pudur village, the function was presided over by several dignitaries including Mrs. C. “A Free eye screening camp” was conducted by Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital and institute of Opthalmology for all students, faculty (Teaching and Non-teaching), office staff, drivers and sweepers on 08-01-2024 at Hall 101 – Ground floor. The National Service Scheme, The Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club organized the function. Dr. K. S. Saji, Principal, started the programme at 10:30am.
They demonstrated the following topics:
300 Students from various departments and 38 staff members (Teaching and Non Teaching) from various departments participated in this program. “A Drug Awareness Program” was conducted for 2023-2027 batch first year students on 08-12-2023 at Conference Hall. NSS Cell of V V College of Engineering organised an Awareness Program on Traffic rules and Accident Management on 23.03.2023. Mr.T.Powlos, Inspector of Police, and Mr.B.Mohamed Rafiq Sub Inspector of Police, addressed the students about Traffic rules and regulations and also Accident management.
NSS Cell of VVCOE organized an Awareness Program on World Wildlife Day - 2023, on 03.03.2023.
Ms.Manasir Haleema, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Tamilnadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Madurai zone, addressed the students and faculty members through video conference mode.
Thiru M.ILAYARAJA, IFS, District Forest Officer, Kanyakumari District, interacted with the students and cleared the doubts of students.

As a part of Swatch Barath, Clean India 2.0, Cleaning activities are carried out in VVCOE Play Ground on 30.12.2022 & 02.01.2023 by NSS volunteers of VV College of Engineering.
As a part of Swatch Barath, Clean India 2.0, Cleaning activities are carried out in Uvari Sri Suyambu Linga Swamy Temple and Beach at Uvari on 20.10.2022 by NSS volunteers of VV College of Engineering and around 60 Kgs of plastic wastes are handed over to SWM workers.

The pogramme conducted from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm using Unacademy Learner (Mobile app).
The Chief guest, Mr. R. Vivekanandan, Gate educator, Unacademy (PAN INDIA) conducted the webinar session.
Among 346 students attended, 270 were active participants(full session). Faculty members from various deparments participated in this pogramme and updated their knowledge.

This National Education Day and First Year Orientation Programme provided a flourishing platform for the students and faculty members to explore and share their expertise in the recent advances in the field of Engineering studies.
Mrs. Idavathi Gunaseeli, Faculty of S&H Department welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. S. Saji, Principal, V V College of Engineering presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. The Chief guest, Mr. Nambikkai Rama, SBET – Director – Satkriya Group, Chennai motivated to get successful in your life, most importantly, you need to set your objectives, those things which will help you to achieve a goal. Finally, Dr. Hariharasubramanian, Head of the Department of S & H delivered the vote of thanks.
About 200 students and 25 faculty members participated in this pogramme and updated their knowledge.
